Find well-lit faces in newspaper photos. Alternatively, go online and search for them.
Try to draw cartoon variants of their faces. Look for the large shapes.
Don’t worry about likeness. Try to go for expressiveness instead.
It’s a fun way to draw portraits, and less demanding than a proper portrait as you have some leeway. It doesn’t have to be exactly accurate. It also helps you let go of exact accuracy. You should train to say something with your drawings and not only slavishly copy what you see.
